“Overdetermined systems of PDEs on parabolic geometries and BGG-sequences”

Parabolic geometries comprise a broad variety of geometric structures, including conformal, projective and certain types of CR-structures. They come equipped with sequences of invariant linear differential operators, called BGG-sequences. The first operators in these sequences give always rise to overdetermined systems of PDEs of finite type, which define various geometrically significant equations on parabolic geometries. In this talk I will discuss the construction of BGG-sequences, give various examples of first BGG-equations and explain how the latter can be efficiently rewritten as first order closed systems.
